Corps Extends Comment Period on Final Environmental Impact Statement for Kansas Highway 10 Bypass (South Lawrence Trafficway)
Tuesday, February 18, 2003

Kansas City, Mo. -- On January 6, 2003 the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District (KCD) released a Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) concerning a proposal by the Kansas Department of Transportation to construct a Kansas Highway 10 bypass (South Lawrence Trafficway) around the city of Lawrence, Kansas. A 30-day comment period for the FEIS began on January 17, 2003 and ended on February 17, 2003.

The Kansas City District has decided to accept comments on the FEIS for an additional two-week period (until March 3, 2003) since the comment period closed on a Federal holiday and since several interested parties have expressed concern that their comments may not have reached KCD prior to the close of the comment period. The Kansas City District believes that the additional two-week period will ensure that all interested parties have an opportunity to submit their comments.

Copies of the Final EIS are available for review at:
